School Nutrition

Did you know that while many of the foods offered in the cafeteria look just like the foods available in your favorite restaurants and stores they are really much different.  School food is required to meet strict nutrition standards, but we want that food to be appealing too.  The foods found in the cafeteria at school are lower in calories, lower in sodium, higher in fiber, and whole grain.

 Welcome to Crane School Nutrition!

At Crane we are Leaders in Learning, and we believe good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.
We are dedicated to finding the balance between healthy choices and foods that kids love.
That is why we are also Leaders in Nutrition.

Our meals are nutritious, age appropriate, and are not super sized. Every day we provide a fruit and veggie bar to go with the offered entree and students fill their own plates from a wide variety of fresh and canned fruits and vegetables. All meals, foods, and beverages, sold or served during the school day, meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines and the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

If your student requires any special dietary considerations, please contact us so that we can work together to create a pleasant experience for your student at every meal.

What's On The Menu?

If you need, or are looking for, Carb counts just click on the menu. The carb values are listed next to the item that is on the menu, and the alternate items that are available daily are printed there too.

Meal Applications & Pre-Payments

No Applications Needed!

All Crane Elementary District Schools are currently on a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) or Provision 2 status. What that means for the parents is that we do not need to fill out Income Eligibility Meal Applications every year. YAY!

What this means for the students is EVERY STUDENT has the opportunity to recieve a FREE Breakfast meal and Lunch meal while they are attending one of the Crane Schools. This means that you not need to send any money for lunch. However, there is a small variety of healthier SMART Snack Compliant Ala Carte items available. You may choose to send money to put on your child's account to cover the purchase of those snack items, cash or check is accepted.

Not what you thought!

School Food is probably not like what you remember getting when you were in school, and the men and women that make it happen every day are probably not the lunch ladies that you remember either. Did you know that Federal Law requires all school food service employees to get Continuing Education Units each year just like teachers? That is why many Crane Nutrition Staff are members of the School Nutrition Association.
