Student Rules of Conduct

Entering and Exiting the Bus

  • Go directly to assigned or available seat when entering the bus

Waiting for the Bus

Students should do the following at all times when waiting for the bus:

  • Arrive at the assigned bus stop before the bus arrives
  • Wait in a safe place clear of traffic until the bus arrives
  • Follow all school rules while waiting for the bus
  • When the bus arrives, form an orderly line and avoid horseplay
  • When crossing a street wait for the verbal signal of the driver and cross in a group 10 feet in front of the bus
Bus passes approved through the transportation department to ride different buses must be obtained from the school’s office through a written parental request. Written parental request for a student getting off at another stop must be provided to the bus driver.

Items Not to be Carried on the Bus

  • Animals of any kind
  • Objects larger than what the students can hold in their laps
  • Glass or other breakable items
  • Weapons of any type
  • Explosives, fireworks, devices such as smoke or stink bombs, or other potentially dangerous items

Bus Behavior

  • Remain seated, keep aisles and exits clear
  • Keep head and arms inside at all times, feet on the floor and hands to self
  • Face forward
  • Keep all personal items and objects inside the bus – throwing objects from the bus will not be tolerated
  • Observe classroom conduct, obey driver at all times promptly and respectfully
  • Swearing, use of profane language, obscene remarks or gestures, will not be tolerated
  • Loud noises will not be tolerated
  • Possession and/or the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or other controlled substances is prohibited
  • Assist with emergencies and emergency drills as requested by driver
  • Horseplay (such as pushing, shoving, or striking other students) and fighting are not tolerated

Since any actions that cause drivers to remove their eyes from the road create a safety hazard, the above rules of conduct must be enforced.

Out of courtesy to the driver and other riders, students are asked to assist in keeping the bus clean and in good order.
