TITLE: English Language Learners’ Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Arizona teaching certificate
2. ESL/Bilingual Endorsement
3. Three years teaching experience in sheltered English immersion classroom or other appropriate teaching experience that demonstrates knowledge of language acquisition teaching strategies and methodologies.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with district and building level teachers and administrators.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal/Assistant Director of Academic Support
JOB GOAL:
To provide leadership to staff and students to develop and implement compensatory education programs promoting language acquisition in order for all students to achieve the academic standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess and diagnose new students for determining need for intensive language development programs.
2. Maintain records and data on all ELL students in the respective school and report information in a timely and accurate manner to proper officials.
3. Monitor ELL students’ progress through appropriate testing, assessments and data disaggregation.
4. Develop and coordinate compensatory education programs that provide intensive language development for ELL students.
5. Assist in teacher training on intensive language development programs.
6. Assist with the development of flexible and creative individualized program curriculums.
7. Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year. Stipend amount as established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal and Assistant Director of Academic Support.
