TITLE: Department Chairperson (Jr. High)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a valid Arizona Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate.
2. Must be a current teacher in the Crane Elementary School District.
3. Must have successfully completed Essential Elements of Instruction training.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
JOB GOAL:
To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in assigned curricular area, so that each student may derive maximum benefit from the continuing pursuit of the subject involved.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as a communicator between teachers and the administration.
2. Coordinates school activities between other departments and teachers.
3. Assists in orienting new staff to the school and department.
4. Provides assistance to department staff in the areas of classroom strategy, discipline, lesson plans, etc.
5. Fills in as substitute teacher when necessary.
6. Schedules and plans monthly departmental meetings with staff.
7. Attends monthly department chairperson meetings with Principal.
8. Assists in the scheduling and transition of sixth and eight graders.
9. Orders and issues the necessary supplies for the departments.
10. Assists the Principal in budget review and preparation.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year. Stipend amount as established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal.
