TITLE: Communications Director (part/time)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public or business administration, public relations, journalism, education or related field.
2. Minimum of five years of successful experience in related field.
3. Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate effectively with news
media, community, businesses, Board and staff.
4. Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement a comprehensive communications
plan.
5. Previous experience with school-community public relations preferred.
REPORTS TO:
Curriculum Director
JOB GOAL:
To generate and promote internal and external school community relations programs for the district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responds to requests for public information about the district, its policies and programs.
2. Develops and implements a proactive media relations program for the district.
3. Develops and implements the crisis communication plan for the district.
4. Collaborates with technology personnel to enhance communications both internally and
externally.
5. Coordinates the preparation and distribution of internal and external school
district publications including brochures, handbooks, newsletters, annual reports, etc.
6. Creates, maintains and updates the “Crane Home Page” on the World Wide Web.
7. Organizes staff/community assemblies and recognition programs.
8. Serves as communications liaison between media and the district; arranges media
coverage for district functions.
9. Advises the superintendent and governing board on community and media relations
matters.
10. Assists in preparing and maintaining department budgets.
11. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month work year. Salary and benefits as established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Evaluation of this position will be performed by the Superintendent or designee in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
