TITLE:            Administrative Assistant – Curriculum and

                        Educational Services

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.        High school diploma or GED required.

 

2.        Shall have at least seven years of experience in a responsible administrative or executive secretarial position.  (Education or training beyond high school may be substituted for experience.)

 

3.        Shall have knowledge of business English, spelling, math, modern office equipment, business practices and procedures.

 

4.        Extensive knowledge of EXCEL, Word Processing, Publisher, PowerPoint and other software packages.

 

5.        Shall have the ability to work and communicate effectively with community, Board, students and staff members.

 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

 

Receives and screens telephone calls, visitors and incoming correspondence; assists visitors or caller by answering questions or providing information regarding office/department policies or procedures.   Responsible for curriculum assessments, handouts and other school-related materials.  Back-up for Superintendent’s secretary including Board meeting minutes and set up, distribution of documents, etc.  Determine when referral to supervisor, appropriate staff member or other office is appropriate.

Take parent complaints as necessary and make reports to Asst. Superintendent.

May compose, edit, type and proof correspondence, reports, assessments and other confidential documents; research and verify information for reports and special projects.    May prepare and sign routine correspondence in own or supervisor’s name according to established guidelines.

Schedules tentative appointments without prior clearance.  Makes arrangements for meetings, conferences and/or student assemblies if applicable.  May attend meetings and record and report on the proceedings.

Maintains accurate office records, including budget information,  purchase orders, statistical information, etc.  Initiates requisitions, work orders and travel requests.

May, train, direct and coordinate the activities of other employees.   May assist in the evaluation of the performance of others and make hiring and/or disciplinary recommendations. 

Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

Curriculum Director and Asst. Superintendent, Curriculum & Academic Support
