Crane School District is committed to the health and safety of its 6,000 students and staff. As part of that commitment, Crane has a responsibility to inform families and individual staff members when they have potentially been exposed to a communicable disease. Crane has closely followed the Yuma County Health Department guidelines for reporting potential exposures. The district will communicate close contact exposures directly with students and staff. In the event of a confirmed school-based COVID-19 case, the school staff and parents will receive communication via Blackboard Connect.
Crane recognizes the unique circumstances of this global pandemic and the desire for greater transparency regarding COVID-19 cases, while still abiding by federal HIPAA and FERPA laws, which protect the privacy of our staff and students. In an effort to balance privacy and transparency, Crane School District provides this weekly, district-wide COVID-19 case count for the purpose of public monitoring:
Crane School District COVID-19 Case Count: 3*
*PLEASE NOTE: 2 of these cases reside within the same household.
The case count reflects the number of confirmed, active COVID-19 cases among in-person students and staff, as reported through the district's designated COVID-19 reporting system. This number is updated with any changes on a weekly basis. New cases are added when there is a case involving the potential exposure of students or staff at any Crane school or district facility. Cases are removed from the count when the quarantine period has passed and the case is no longer considered active.
