Accelerated Reading:
“Mesquite Stingers Reach New Heights!”

Accelerated Reading has become an integral part of Mesquite Elementary School and Mesquite Students are truly EXCITED about reading! Students take the Star reading test to determine their individual AR level. As they read books they may test to evaluate their comprehension and vocabulary knowledge from the books read.

Book quizzing is available in the individual classrooms throughout the day at the teachers digression and in the Computer/AR Lab from 8:15 until 10:00 am each day.

Points are awarded per book as determined by the AR Program. Students accumulate points to earn certification at different levels; this becomes increasingly more challenging as the student progress through the certification levels. The points earned convert to AR Bucks, students may spend these at the AR Store. All certificates and awards are presented at various AR Assemblies throughout the school year.

AR is funded by the school and from PTO AR Booster club Fundraising Events. Tax Credit Donations may be made to the school in behalf of the AR Program. Forms are available at the office and on the Crane District Website.

Volunteers are needed to help run the AR program and for Fund Raising Events. Please contact Anne Bodine, Library Specialist if you are interested in helping.
