Math/ Mathematicas

For the next 2 weeks during math, we will continue to practice measuring with different units (inches, feet, yards, millimeters, centimeters, meters).  Students need to be able to estimate how long an object is, and then measure it and compare the actual measurement to their estimate.  They will also learn to compare the length of 2 different objects.  They might line up a pen and a crayon and use their ruler to measure the difference.  Lastly, we will be practicing word problems with measurement within 100.  Here are some examples:

-Mary is 48 inches tall.  Max is 53 inches tall.  How much taller is Max than Mary?

            -Molly has a string that is 65 centimeters long.  She cuts off 43 centimeters.  How long is the string now?

Durante las próximas 2 semanas durante las matemáticas, continuaremos practicando la medición con diferentes unidades (pulgadas, pies, yardas, milímetros, centímetros, metros). Los estudiantes deben ser capaces de estimar cuánto tiempo es un objeto, y luego medirlo y comparar la medición real con su estimación.
